Broomfield High School's Kairos Theatre and Creative Revolution Theatre Company (CRTC) present The Laramie Project February 11th & 13th at 7pm and February 12th at 8 pm at Broomfield High School.
On October 6th of 1998 Matthew Shepard was beaten and left to die tied to a fence in the outskirts of Laramie, Wyoming. He died 6 days later. His torture and murder became a watershed historical moment in America that highlighted many of the fault lines in our culture.
A month after the murder the members of Tectonic Theater Project traveled to Laramie and conducted interviews with the people of the town. From these interviews they wrote the play The Laramie Project. The piece has been seen by more than 30 million people around the country.
This project is a co-production between Kairos Theatre and CRTC. The goal of this production is to give the students a opportunity to expand their experience by training with and working alongside adults who have decades of experience working in theater. Adults and students are working in all aspects of this production onstage and backstage to create a high quality production. This co-production also gives CRTC the opportunity to further their mission statement and put on a full scale production in a beautiful auditorium.
Tickets are available online at seatyourself.biz/bhsthespians or at the door on the nights of the performances.
